worth noting that the second rich people stopped being afraid of mobs tearing them limb from limb, they stopped building libraries and opera houses and stuff and started ripping the copper wiring out of the walls of society instead

Yippee! I sold a second print! Now I have 5 whole dollars burning a hole in my pocket

Say what you want, but not worrying about money allows people to bloom and spread their wings. Especially artists or people with projects.

Poverty stunt and diminish us, it make us smaller, like tardigrades in their withered survival mode.

Some of us are stuck in that stunted mode for life.

Fail day. Didn't do anything of value.
Lone bright spot was watching A Knight of Seven Kingdoms which I've been enjoying (but wish the episodes were longer).
I must do better tomorrow.

Look animation is the bane of modern financialization. Its slow, expensive, and requires specialized knowledge. Its also always popular. They can’t help but try to destroy it along the way. But it never dies.

Grumpily eating a large chocolate covered apple and spending money on video games that I can not afford to be spending

Today's goals (which I only write in an attempt to keep sane):
1. More rigging work for portfolio.
2. Revise my etsy listing prices so I can maybe do free shipping, because hopefully it'll help me get a second sale someday, fingers crossed.
3. Die, I guess.

A bunch of projects launching for Kickstarter’s #ZineQuest this month are using Gen-AI. Even if the concept sounds appealing, please support designers with integrity first. If this sounds unreasonable, we shouldn’t be mutuals.

Baked a bread. It didn't rise very well. Gonna be a *dense* loaf, sadly.

Depressing art!
A collage made of a mushroom tamp I carved, some ripped out novel pages, some lino misprints, and gel plate experiments from the past few days.
I later sealed it all with wax that I ironed on, but that was after taking this pic.

Been playing with gel plate "printing" (really I'm just making random marks and paint splotches). Pretty fun to mess around with, but I'm not certain how useful it will be for my process.

So many folks out there with absolutely rad ideas who make amazing things. Wish I felt like I could someday join those ranks... but I'm disappointed with everything I make, and I flit from thing to thing, finishing nothing ever.

Still not an artist but I’m forcing myself to become one so that I can add art to my #dnd games without using AI slop.

I recently made some NPCs using techniques inspired by @jpcoovert.bsky.social

Check out his work, it is truly inspiring, even if my work is not!

Gonna have these extra grungy prints up on the etsy page later today. Technically, they're misprints, but I really like the look.

i'm automatically going to think way less of anyone still using generative ai by this point, especially ironically

Fuck your slop
"The UK creative industries — which contributed £125 billion to the economy in 2024 and supported 2.4 million jobs — are being destroyed by an AI sector that, whatever its long-term potential, contributed just £11 billion in the same year and supported only 85,000 jobs."

i gotta say one more thing

having worked in animation for years now, calling this "animated" is a fucking mortal insult. completely get fucked. animation is a creator thoughtfully and painstakingly giving something life. this is fucking nothing compared to animation
First trailer for Darren Aranofsky's new AI animated series 'On This Day... 1776'

• Tells short narrative stories about the Revolutionary War

• Uses Gen AI tools, including tech made by Google DeepMind

• Has SAG voice actors

More printing done. Used better ink; Got much better results. Will take pictures... at some point.
January 29, 2026 at 7:16 PM
A very "bleh" start to the day.
Bad sleep, tired AF, headache. But I did a little printing. It didn't turn out great, but I'll revisit it this afternoon using better ink and see how that goes.
I think I just need nicer yet thinner or more squishable paper to get niceprints more consistently.
January 29, 2026 at 6:05 PM
Think I'll print this as bookmarks for my etsy store when it's done carving.

I've spent too much money over the past few days. Gota find more things to sell off.
