While Blue Origin is finishing up the first stage for the launch of NASA's EscaPADE mission, they've already rolled out the second stage for Flight 3 for a static fire! This flight will launch Firefly's Elytra Mission 1 spacetug, and is expected late this year or early next year.

@torybruno.bsky.social Hi Mr. Bruno. What happens if you drop a rocket during transport? Can you put it back and continue or it needs some repairs or is it dead?

Good news for Amazon Kuiper, which needs the upgraded Ariane 6 in order for it to launch a sufficient number of satellites (35-40) per mission.

Here's a new marketing video for Kuiper, it includes some details of the manufacturing and engineering. Space engineering is neat, and the folks in the video are the real people building it: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OBhs.... (It is a little dramatic, I suppose space is dramatic as well.)

The latest models from the USGS show slip, and associated strong shaking, extending much further to the south. Here I have plotted contours of estimated shaking over a map of population density. Note that the fault runs south through a narrow valley that is densely populated.
