hey remember when I got shit on for years for trying to warn people that GamerGate was just Nazis and not just about harassing women and not just about some “consumer revolt”
The Epstein files reveal what powerful people see in video games: profit, coercion, and control

I keep waiting for the audiobooks to be available somewhere other than Audible, but that's never gonna happen, I'll have to give in and read these with my eyes at some point I guess
If you’re looking for a fun, antifascist sci-fi multispecies buddy comedy book series (with a very good audiobook version), I highly recommend Dungeon Crawler Carl.

I’m on Book 3 and it’s been a blast from start to finish.

Maybe Adam Schiff thinks if he writes me a long enough email, I won't notice that he hasn't committed to anything actually meaningful, like the thing I specifically told him to do: abolish ICE.

Abolish ICE.

There’s no reforming it.

There’s no compromise.

There’s only one way to rein in ICE’s terror campaign. Abolish it.

I genuinely have no idea how to convey this to the American people, but I think the biggest impediment to any kind of immigration reform is that people are convinced that "legal" and "illegal" are immutable, intrinsic categories instead of a rapidly-shifting arbitrary constellation of regulations.

January was a long year. Can’t wait to see in February who the US will invade, who ICE will kidnap and kill, what deadly disease they will bring back, how Trump will steal our money, and whether there are any remaining international agreements and institutions from which we can withdraw.

I've been resisting the urge to post my way through Battlestar Galactica because I *really* didn't want any spoilers. But I'm halfway through season 4 and I think I've earned the right to post a hearty "what the FRACK is going on"

You’re describing an emergency. The world is also watching you and waiting for you to do something.

Are you going to establish an eviction moratorium? Rent is due today.
They’re taking kids from Minnesota and sending them to detention camps. They’re shooting American citizens in the street and locking investigators out of the crime scenes. The world is watching what happens next.
Hundreds of people spelled out the distress signal "SOS" on Bde Maka Ska in Minneapolis on Friday, Jan. 30.

Why is the Wikipedia page about Pat Metheny in the Epstein files, and more importantly, why are parts of it redacted www.justice.gov/epstein/file...

Listen it’s great this happened and we should celebrate and encourage it at the same time we can’t talk about this without noting that it happened through a series of phone calls, one of which was the woman’s husband chatting with the police chief, who he had known for years.

I truly believe discourse about voters (especially those who may have voted for Trump) would go better on this app if everyone was using the spectrum of allies as a framework

If you are a Californian who doesn’t think throwing more money at OpenAI is a good use of state resources (or a useful intervention for learners in a teaching focused university system), add your voice.
The CSU/OpenAI contract is set to expire June 30, 2026.

Sign this petition: https://actionnetwork.org/petitions/cancel-chatgpt-edu-invest-in-humans/ for the CSU NOT to renew the contract and to use the savings to protect jobs at CSU campuses facing layoffs.

Once again here to tap the mic and say Texas is a gerrymandered, voter repressed state, not a "red" state. And every one of you celebrating the (significant) win in Tarrant County better not be the same people in my mentions saying to throw the whole South away. There are good people fighting.

You can test new tech ideas using the Seinfeld Test

Would the product eliminate the plot of an episode? (Google maps, cell phones, paypal, battery packs)

Good tech.

Would the product inspire new Seinfeld plots? (NFTs, AI chatbots, crypto currency, blindboxes, metaverse land sales)

Bad tech.

The Atlantic was founded in 1857, the New York Times in 1851. So it's a bit surprising that David Brooks is leaving the Times for the Atlantic, given that the Atlantic is only six years younger.
