Markets can be really wonderful. Emancipatory, even! But sometimes they fail. This is why I advocate for better funding the CBC, and entirely overhauling its editorial orientation to better reflect the demographic and ideological diversity of our country, which is what CBS is pretending to do.

I will give CBS this much: It takes some balls as a news organization in this era to call out the big problem as too much expertise.

ah yes, the best way to explain and understand the world is by ignoring experts and practitioners and turning our attention to the “average American,” whatever that means
This isn't about democratizing the news. It's about elevating "vibes" and "feelings" to be on par with lived experience and subject-matter expertise.

Again, I urge the #NDP to disregard the voices of the reckless anti-NATO tankies in our party. Fortunately, they form a minority. I'm very skeptical of @avilewis.ca on this front.

Some of my fellow progressives are opposed to the CRA's move here. There are people who in good faith erroneously received this benefit, and we should advocate for leniency and flexibility for them.

But those who simply gamed the system should be held responsible.

As of Nov. 30, close to 1.4 million people have repaid approximately $3.3 billion in debts related to individual COVID-19 benefits, according to the Canada Revenue Agency.

I embrace what Mamdani says here, but I agree with Walsh. Walsh is principally consistent and respectable in his view, whereas MAGA are hypocrites.

#NewYork
I reject what Mamdani says here, but I gotta call out the hypocrisy of every MAGA/Trump supporter out there. They scream “communist” while embracing a fascist. And they shout “we don’t believe in collectivism in America,” while forgetting that we don’t believe in authoritarianism in America either.

My concern about the #NDP is twofold:

- We don't talk about affordability enough.

- When we do, half the time we're economically illiterate.

Price caps tend to reduce supply. But increasing competition, and making more generous GST rebates (raising the threshold, too?) is effective.

#cdnpoli
The grocery aisles are packed with last-minute shoppers, and too many families are feeling the squeeze this holiday season.
Together, we can make groceries more affordable.
🎄 Price caps on essentials
🎄 Remove the GST from basics
🚫 Rein in grocery monopolies that keep prices high

Emphasizing on affordability and labour, while absolutely not forgetting to protect vulnerable people (e.g. trans kids).

Please, please, please keep talking about affordability, and healthcare!
