Explainer: Why did Japan PM's Taiwan remarks cause such a stir?
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi sparked a diplomatic spat with China over remarks last week that a hypothetical Chinese attack on democratically-ruled Taiwan could trigger a military response from Tokyo.

I remember Amanda Galbraith once lamenting, quoted in a piece, that conservatives are regarded as troglodytes. She thought it was unfair.

Only a movement dominated by troglodytes would see nearly 50% approval of Donald Trump, and piss away our country's measles elimination status.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Hey @thestar.com, does your android app now disallow copying and pasting text? I sometimes like to post the odd quote when sharing an article. Perhaps it's an issue on my end.

I'm a fan of your work!

But the cargo bed says ‘cosplay builder with soft hands’.

Time to ban these fragile-man-mobiles from our cities.

I wrote an op-ed on what I think about the fight for local neighbourhood retail (and the grousing about Badiali's) means for the urban vision of Toronto. Gift link here: www.thestar.com/opinion/cont...

The Ontario Ministry of Education has apparently cancelled their pre-budget consultation for this year. They usually ask for feedback from school boards and education partners on funding, programs, challenges, etc. in October, to help inform the budget. This is concerning. #OntEd

It may be the longest and most expensive media trial in Canadian history

I’m ready to go public about it and I want to share more details with you 🧵

Peer countries who spend more of their GDP on taxes levy higher *consumption taxes*, a third rail for many progressives.

Alternatively, we can tax the rich a bit more, yes, and levy consumption taxes paired w/ rebates for low-income Canadians.

Carney’s first budget is asking the wrong Canadians to make sacrifices
This budget seems to have a case of mistaken identity. Instead of asking for sacrifices from those able to make them, they are leaning on individuals and sectors already struggling.

The NDP are completely silent on this. I'm ashamed of my party for being so afraid of wealthy seniors. We'd rather cowardly curry favour with the haves than pursue economic equality for young people.
