"Yorkshire Water was privatised in 1989 under the Water Act, launched debt-free and promoted as the start of a new, efficient era.

What followed was anything but. Today, the company carries almost £7bn in debt. Our rivers are polluted, our bills keep rising, and we’re told to pay still more..."
Yorkshire Water: it’s time to end the rip-off
Handing the company back to local people would return both control and value to those who need it most

If we're talking about bias, why do BBC politics programmes, from Politics Live to the Laura Kuennsberg Show, still always begin with a look at the newspaper front pages, which are overwhelmingly biased in one direction. Helps frame the entire news agenda and debate in their favour

So glad we rolled out the red carpet for the tangerine tosser, cringily hoping to curry favour, only for him to literally not give a shit - as people with brains predicted - and threaten to sue the BBC for £1bn anyway (on top of tariffs and slagging our country off every 5 mins)

See what’s happening. A Trumpist US media company has taken over Channel 5. Another US company is gunning for ITV. Our social media is saturated by Musk’s calls for civil war in the UK. The BBC is the last thing standing, and Trump/Johnson are trying to bring it down

Trump was impeached for his Jan 6th actions. However that made no fucking difference.
Glad that someone has finally taken responsibility for the appalling assault on democracy that was the Jan. 6 insurrection.

Slightly confused that it's the Director-General of the BBC, but what do I know?

In this piece, admitting the BBC has broken its impartiality rules re. trans people, the BBC further breaks its impartiality rules by changing a quote saying "trans identity" to "trans ideology".

This is what is happening. It is cynical. It is strategic. It is organised. It is well funded.

And we need to pay attention.

The far right - and their cheerleaders, mimics, tribute acts, and handmaidens have identified two presentational frameworks that give them cut-through and traction. 1/7

Nope. Cluelessness far more important than being desperate. A total failure to understand the modern world, trade, geography, even international politics. Still not fixed.

And in milder forms quite widespread across Europe.
‘I think we were so desperate to get out of the EU that at the time we basically came up with a very bad deal.’

Brits are pining for the pre-Brexit migration system
The idea was that leaving the bloc would give the U.K. back “control” of its borders and create a fairer system. But the widespread perception is it didn’t turn out that way.

The same old playbook is being used.

Starmer/Streeting’s policy of denying essential healthcare to trans kids is identical to the Trump administration’s denial of healthcare to trans kids.

If your policy is the same as Trump’s (and Putin’s) your policy is fascist.
“Access to gender-affirming care for transgender youth will be dramatically restricted by the Trump administration under new proposals by the Department of Health and Human Services.”

The ongoing political attacks on young trans people are designed to erase their existence. This is painfully clear.
Trump pushes an end to medical care for transgender youth nationally

Migration makes for political deflection and migrants an easy scapegoat, but most "concerns" around immigration are flat out false and driven by hostile rhetoric.
Reality is, on a day to day basis, people are more worried about how they'll get through to the next payday.

Paxton is actually using the same tactic as UK trans hostile activists.

It's taking a case they know they can't prove and probably won't win, because it will mean wall-to-wall disinformation via the media that will scare stores from selling it, women from taking it, etc. Still a good result. :(
