To make sense of America's baffling foreign policy under Trump, you need to understand 'neo-royalism'
US Foreign Policy Is Now Medieval
The search continues for a framework to make sense of, or at least label, the baffling state of world affairs since Donald Trump took his second oath of office as president of the United States. And now we have a new contender: Neo-royalism. At first — and even second — glance, I’d say it fits.

🤷🏿‍♂️It's weird that people aren't talking about what he means when he says *China will get it."

China is not planning to invade a NATO nation.

China is negotiating with Denmark, a sovereign nation, about mining the minerals, and using arctic shipping routes to cut delivery times to EU nations.
Trump: "The US needs Greenland for the purpose of National Security. It is vital for the Golden Dome that we are building. NATO should be leading the way for us to get it. IF WE DON’T, RUSSIA OR CHINA WILL, AND THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! ... Anything less than that is unacceptable."

Kidnapping and stealing isn’t going to put Venezuela on the path to democracy.

At what point will world leaders finally admit that the Trump administration is a global security threat?

Stephen Miller, who wants the U.S. to steal Greenland and shake down Latin America, says: ”We live in a world … that is governed by force, that is governed by power. These are the iron laws of the world since the beginning of time.”
That‘s a criminal pretending that a civilized world is impossible.

What a waste of money! The USAID purges were just a show for them. And children have died in results. All of this so that Trump can pretend it's from him and use that in his weird gambling game.

Encoded or programmed?

We often confound how things work, and what's possible. That's where the frontier between utopia and vision sits hopefully.
The Rightist mindset of needing to know how superior one is to someone else is encoded in human nature. So many utopian thought exercises (on both rhe Right and Left!) fail to consider how true this is.

Having an external enemy allows this mindset with an Other outside of one's social groups.

Just more arguments about the danger of vilification, either left or right. Not because evil doesn't exist (relativism is just the counter part of vilification) but because evil isn't inherent to someone. Good and evil is what we do, not what we are.
What fascinates me is that while for so many people it fueled a lifetime distrust of authority, for others it fueled a nearly automatic trust of people who claim to distrust and defy authority.

What many politicians don't realise - or want to understand - is that many of the "highly-skilled" immigrants whose labour they crave were raised by the same asylum seekers and refugees they openly despise. They take the racist political rhetoric personally, and act accordingly. Why wouldn't they?
"Record numbers of overseas-trained doctors are quitting the UK, leaving the NHS at risk of huge gaps in its workforce, with hostility towards migrants blamed for the exodus...the NHS is so heavily reliant on doctors from elsewhere – 42% of its entire medical workforce qualified overseas."
All those people, including current government, who falsely claim migrants are to blame for failings with the NHS, along with infrastructure in general, are in for one hell of a shock with how much worse things will get with Labour's anti-immigration policies.

Having practiced in the unethical US system for nearly 15 years I fully endorse this message. Alberta’s dual practice policy will make care more expensive and less accessible creating a two tiered system.

I wrote about this just before the Canadian snap election in April.
