Congress is about to decide whether to stand up to Trump’s lawless power or hand him another blank check. And Trump and Senate Republicans are betting that Democrats will fold, just like they did in March. We can’t let that happen.

Here's the deal:

@shaheen.senate.gov - please do not surrender. These people do not honor promises.

They don't even honor their own oaths to the Constitution.

If we - civil servants - can handle a shutdown, so can you.
Shaheen sends out signal for surrender from Schumer Dems. She will vote 4 blank checks to fund the Trump regime as long as she gets a “promise” that there will be vote on healthcare.

This is probably how Schumer’s caucus will surrender bc he doesn’t hold his member accountable 4 surrendering.

NEW: In an unprecedented move, the NIH will soon disinvite dozens of scientists about to take positions on advisory councils that make final decisions on grant funding.

NIH staff were told to select others aligned with the Trump administration and told to expect placements by political appointees.
Exclusive: NIH to dismiss dozens of grant reviewers to align with Trump priorities
The move would undo years of work, leaving advisory councils understaffed, and without the full expertise needed for reviews.

It is a little weird to me countries aren’t more aggressively, formally trying to take advantage of the U.S. science brain drain. Once in a lifetime opportunity to buy low on Non-Dumbass Americans with PhDs who just wanna look into microscopes and quietly cure ass cancer as our country eats shit.

🧵RFKJ insists HHS cuts “won’t affect the science”. So let’s talk employee numbers. In January 2025, CDC had ~13,000 employees. On Feb 17, ~700 were fired (150 rehired). On Apr 1, 2700 were fired. Several hundred more will take early retirement. We have already lost over 1 in 4 workers.

—*Arrested* at airport in Boston;
—Now indefinite ICE detention in Louisiana;
—"Crime": not declaring some frog-embryo samples for research.

Read it.
