The reputation Dublin (wishes it) has of being a cheeky friendly city is actually (and increasingly) intimidation, harassment and public insult from a cohort of men with nasty nasal voices scoring somewhere between JK Rowling and a rubber chicken on the witty scale.
The amount of random "smart" comments I (or women I've been with) have gotten from strangers (all men) since I've been back in Ireland has been shocking.

Was having a nice pre-birthday night in the gay bear club in Rome last night, until it was raided by Roman cops.

Note to self, Italian police don't like being called fascist to their faces.

I used to have a button on my phone that would make it pretend to ring so that could get me out of a conversation...and after 5 days home in Ireland I would like that button back. #Spéirgorm

Ian Paisley Jr inviting Erika Kirk to Northern Ireland and wanting to set up a branch of Turning Point there should be a bigger story given the DUP's murky funding of advertising etc back in the Brexit referendum.

When we talk about poverty and disability, it isn't just about standard measures of poverty. It's about extra costs.

Knowing the difference is key to designing fair, inclusive policies.

Save this! New UN guidelines on accessible surveys are out, offering practical recommendations to make data collection more inclusive of persons with disabilities.

We were glad to contribute as one of several reviewers of an earlier draft.

You can be brilliant in your field, disabled and a terrible person. That isn't unheard of.

National just got rid of the second practical driving test...

Is it so Simeon Browne can get his full license?

It would be so useful to have a cycle tracker to manage disability/health issues but not one meets the privacy/security basics for managing health data.

If you embroider or cross-stitch & are interested in mutual aid, I think that I'm going to organize an event where folks can sell their work and donate a percentage of proceeds to a couple of local mutual aid groups. May 16 or 23. I need to find a location here in NYC. I'll circle back with details.

The guy driving us from the airport is listening to a playlist called best sad romantic songs, which makes me think his "having a good day" answer to the small talk isn't quite accurate.

A lot of the ways I used to be able to talk myself out of panic attacks are proving completely ineffective in the context of nightmare thoughts constantly being proven right.

My friends at @diverseempowerment.bsky.social do incredible work for #LGBTQI people with disabilities in Uganda and are a life line for so many people. They need funding to pay their rent and continue their work.
🚨 URGENT: Uganda's ONLY accessible LGBTQ safe shelter for persons with disabilities is at risk of closure.

For disabled LGBTQ persons in Uganda, the risks are extreme: family rejection, community violence, & displacement among others.

Every contribution matters. Please donate & share widely. 💜
