I'm not in a total democratic deficit, I finally got to vote in the council elections here, which means I finally got to vote in the orange wheelybin which was a life goal.

I've never been great at participating in pride, but this year felt quite important, particularly given the hatred currently directed at our trans whānau.
I don't want to be grateful for basic inclusion, but every event we attended had put actual thought & planning into accessibility. It matters.

I did the hardest thing I've physically done ever, and it is entirely due to leaning into my disabled body, challenging shame about being wobbly, slow and shakey and feeling comfortable in who I am and it has brought up so many feelings about the things I haven't done because I would be "bad at it"
