Conspiracies not only give the believer a sense of control of the world around them. They take control when you distrust all institutions. They provide an other, an enemy who is harming your world. That harm and oppression renders the other not human. The other does not
It’s infuriating how many people claim to care about fictitious “child trafficking” conspiracies about trans people and Wayfair and Democrats but will miss, ignore, and distract from actual government agents kidnapping children in front of their very eyes

And here’s the other one. European politicians surely have their work cut out for them in Davos.

The public discussion about whether Trump would order an invasion of Greenland feels awfully reminiscent of the debates before Russia’s full-scale attack on Ukraine: ”No, he won’t order an invasion. It doesn’t make sense for Russia because XYZ.”

A mere 12 hours later, Stanley’s prayers were answered.
Spare a thought for duty editors at news organisations as they enter the last weekend of the new year break. All the "2025 in review" pieces ran long ago. No articles left by correspondents in December remain unused. There is little fresh news. It's the grimmest weekend of the year.

Lol. But also, this is sad.
Epävarmuus omasta maskuliinisuudesta saattaa selittää miesten vahvempaa taipumusta ilmastodenialismiin

Ympäristöystävällisyys mielletään feminiiniksi joten mitä epävarmempi on omasta maskuliinisuudesta

Sitä enemmän syytä vähätellä ilmastonmuutosta ja omaa vastuuta sen ratkasemisessa 1/7

This doesn’t exactly spark joy. The relations between the ”unreliable allies” and the US undoubtedly affect the relations between the US and smaller countries.

”it is far from obvious whether certain European countries will have
economies and militaries strong enough to remain reliable allies.”
Europeans are waking up this morning to find the new US National Security Strategy (quietly) released. And what it has to say on Europe could not be clearer. On the „stark prospect of civilizations erasure“ for example. 👇

If you are interested in the modern far right - especially the so-called Active Clubs - this is a recommended read. You can see Gramsci invoked constantly in the far-right corners of Telegram.
