A baby platypus is called a puggle (or 'platypup' 😁)

And anytime you post a video like this one, someone always points out they have venomous spurs.

The adult males DO, but *only* the adult males!

Let's talk about the amazing venom cocktail produced by this adorable little beaver-duck.

With chimeric cofactors, we can turn methyltransferases into prenyltransferases. Methyltransferases even prefer AdoPrenyl! Thanks to co-first author Arne and the team led by Andrea

CRISPR screening reveals TRIM25 as a pH-sensitive sensor that specifically targets foreign RNAs entering through endosomes. N1-methylpseudouridine helps repel TRIM25 binding & enhances protein production.
Exogenous RNA surveillance by proton-sensing TRIM25
Exogenous messenger RNAs (mRNAs) require cellular machinery for delivery and translation but also encounter inhibitory factors. To investigate their regulation, we performed genome-wide CRISPR screens...

Just a reminder that Germany was the center of scientific progress until the Nazis suppressed, drove away, or killed all the non-Nazi scientists.

The ACS has deleted its website on Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Respect. And with that move, have shown they are worthy of none of the latter.
People ask why no-one stands up to fascists, this is why - they are too worried about their own standing to challenge it.

Ok, so if you’re an organic chemist you’ve done chiral GC-MS. What if you could drop the GC, and just measure enantiomeric ratio by MS? That’s what’s in SCIENCE today from Xiaoyu Zhou and coworkers in Zheng Ouyang’s group. Have a look:

Hi Bluesky,
over the last years I was working on the biocatalytic generation of SAM analogues to expand the scope of methyltransferases. Selective 4-chlorobenzylation on the mRNA 5′ cap could improve protein production in human cell lines.
