Many scare accounts use MDPI papers to claim the most fantastic things. They, and many followers, are unaware that many of these papers are opinion or narrative reviews, mostly outside the expertise of the authors. There is a reason this was publsihed in an MDPI journal.

it's seems that #mdpi profits & deep pockets are making it omnipresent 🧐🫣
My first article submitted to #MDPI was accepted. Overall I did not have a bad experience, and I found very similar to Scientific reports and #BMC journals. The peer review was good, and as always, #reviewer2 was constantly unsatisfied.

J'ai voulu regarder les sources sur qui fait ces daubes sur les hpi et elles n'existent pas, l'article du figaro semble écrit par un llm, ça mélange un questionnaire inserm d'il y a 20 ans avec un article mdpi plus récent 🫠

We have a manuscript "in revision" with a journal and one reviewer has provided a list of their own mdpi papers that we should cite. No Thanks! Luckily, the journal has a policy that allows us to decline those suggestions.

Recent MDPI paper including diagram of a bacterial cell with a mitochondrion 🤦♀️ The authors propose a mechanism for the toxicity of silver nanoparticles: "Ag+ ions in AgNPs bombard the bacterial mitochondria’s electron transport chain, resulting in cell death".

You are not alone. Unfortunately they keep sending me invites. I also have colleagues that disagree with me but sticking to your principles is never easy. I accept +1 additional invite from community journals for every rejection I give mdpi or also if possible elesevier.

I see a pattern: non-experts copying non-experts, amplifying weak claims from low-impact journals. Bad reviews, poor methods by non-experts.
Take MDPI reviews: often written by non-specialists, repeating each other, citing thin or poor evidence. This isn’t science, it’s noise
