Never saw protests like this when Obama or Biden were president. Yet again, Donald Trump outstrips them all. Amazing. 🙄

Astonishingly disturbing. And well done Mr Rashid.
A Florida court detained a US Citizen for being an "illegal immigrant." He showed the court proof of citizenship. The court agreed—& held him anyway.

I criticized the ruling online & a Florida judge responded by trying to strip me of my law license. I fought back www.qasimrashid.com/p/a-florida-...

Such a great, cautionary tale. (Declaration of Interest - not touched a Brewdog product in years. Seriously dislike their culture.)
How did BrewDog go from the poster child for crowdfunding success to being a cautionary tale for other start-ups? https://on.ft.com/4kGUYVu

As a nation we must focus relentlessly on these areas of great expertise and excellence, and seriously support the companies, many of them quite small, who need a surge in patient capital to grow - and to stay British. Government must play its part. #industrialstrategy
In the first session of @CommonsSITC Science Diplomacy enquiry @wellcometrust found it hard to name just three science sectors where the UK has a global comparative advantage but settled on life sciences - including the Covid and Malaria vaccines - AI and clean energy.

I have liberally re-seeded areas of my lawn where garden furniture had worn the grass bare.
Two things are certain, as I watch the sprinkler soaking the seeded earth.
1. The water will wash the seed off the lawn into the paving where it will now grow like, er, grass.
2. Pigeons will eat the rest.

Have always admired MW, but this confirms it. Using a day-to-day example to explain why something superficially attractive could end up subverting the last vestiges of privacy we have, or worse. Very good.
Worth a watch:

Head of Signal, Meredith Whittaker, on so-called "agentic AI" and the difference between how it's described in the marketing and what access and control it would actually require to work as advertised.

THE BELL JAR

HARD ❌

It was a queer, sultry summer, the summer they electrocuted the Rosenbergs, and I didn't know what I was doing in New York

EASY ✅

That summer was sizzling, and so were the Rosenbergs

Brave and eloquent. A remarkable young woman.
This is 18yo Lavora Vincent and she speaks for me! ✊🏽

“This Capitol building? People are supposed to come here and represent us AND THEY WON’T!”

Listen to the entire clip. 👇🏽
Goose pimples!
THIS x 1,000,000. Honestly I don’t know who this person is (this clip popped up on social media) but I would vote for them tomorrow.

Listening to Parsley, Sage etc from S&G. How brilliant. Yet when I played it as a new release (60s) I remember my parents' irritation with this weird new music. It hurt. Future generations worked with what was new, but not then - for me, at least.
Feels like this generational break is important.

I suppose theTimes thinks it's clever by avoiding giving details of the racial/racist element of the disorder but then identifies the language of the police interpreter. 🙄

Would love to know how proactive UK universities/govt research centres have been in wooing disaffected US scientists.
Excellent question. The answer, sadly, is that Trump doesn’t give a damn about what’s best for America.

A fast-moving wildfire in the Pine Barrens section of southern New Jersey spread to 3,200 acres of the heavily forested area by the evening, prompting the shutdown of a 17-mile stretch of one of the state’s busiest highways, the authorities said.
