There aren’t many things that would make getting smashed by the most athletic 290 pound men to ever walk on earth worth doing, but healthcare for my family is on the list.

If Cal has Fernando Mendoza on their roster this year, I think they go 8-4 at best, then he goes pro, and they probably don't have JKS on the roster next year.
Also, having Fernando might've saved Wilcox's job for another year, which would have been even more detrimental to Cal's long term health.

It's been tragic watching the twin paths of OSU and Wazzu after getting screwed by the dissolution of the Pac-12. OSU made a bunch of bad decisions and immediately bottomed out. Wazzu did everything right and their reward was a 6-6 season and getting their program picked clean by the rich twice over
