🚨 Important milestone for PA transit! 🚨 Governor Shapiro flexes $153M in highway funds to prevent SEPTA service cuts & fare hikes in 2025. This is a stopgap—but we’re still pushing for a permanent, sustainable solution. 🚍💪

Yesterday, 28-year-old Dominique Jones was killed while riding his bicycle by a motorist at 25th & Diamond in Strawberry Mansion.

Traffic violence is real violence, and our city can do more to prevent these deaths.

News: Gov. Josh Shapiro addressed SEPTA's funding shortfall at today's press conference: "I want to make very clear, I will not let SEPTA fail." But he punted on a specific q on flexing federal highway funds to the agency, only saying to stay tuned in the coming weeks.

Traffic deaths being first page news is progress. Sad. But progress.

It is arguably the best fall weather in Philadelphia right now. Sunny and slight chill. A+ no notes

The irony and idiocy of appointing two people to lead the Department of Government Efficiency. Sounds like wasteful government spending run amok to me. #kakistocracy #theoffice #clowns

My current conspiracy theory is that FElon Musk is suppressing "kakistocracy" on Twitter (I'll never call it X) because it hurts his feelings. Can we get #kakistocracy trending on @bsky.app??

Seeing lots of posts about spikes in Americans wanting to flee to Europe. I'll be honest, I've thought about it, too. But the thing I keep coming back to is: if I have the privilege and means to escape, I also have the privilege and means to fight back. I'm not the one they're coming after. #resist

Philly! Mark your calendars!

Sunday @ 6:30pm at Meyer's Brewing we're gathering to write letters to Josh Shapiro to pressure him to flex federal funding to support SEPTA.

The Fishtown Neighbors Association will provide all the letter writing supplies you need, along with a template of what to say.

Very important line here from Transport Secretary Louise Haigh on road safety:

"We treat road safety in a way as if it is somehow a natural accident. If the number of people being killed or seriously injured on our roads, were being killed in any other way, we'd be treating it as a pandemic."

I took time to dissociate this weekend but woke up to a crumbling transit system and the pa state Senate avoiding their responsibilities as decision makers.

People keep saying it's time to move forward but I think it's time to do some campaign planning and visioning.

I'm getting attacked on TW because I'm upset at Shapiro for being weak on D issues. And I'm pretty sure they're all republican bots. But listen, Shapiro is dragging his feet on transit, not standing up to Rs therefore signing an abysmal # of bills, and no longer being outspoken on basic rights?
