My favourite thing about writing for kids is how ridiculous I can go- I recently wrote a scene with a talking bottom, and it made me laugh so much. I will never grow old if I keep this up.

Think the sound of water may be my favourite sound in the world, and it sounds even better after the incessant downpours of rain lately. When it's loud enough to block my thoughts- that is my favourite.

Another book I’d recommend is Looking After Your Autistic Self by @niamhgarvey.bsky.social

It’s full of great advice and gentle insights, a very personal, reflective, and surprisingly soothing read.

Definitely recommended.

I absolutely loved this book for #Autistic #Pregnant people. Well worth a read by medical staff and family of autistic pregnant people also.
The book has received really lovely reviews from @niamhgarvey.bsky.social Alexis Quinn & @autisticdoctor.bsky.social, which you can see below. (2 of 2)

People talk about autistic burnout like it’s about bad boundaries or not managing energy.

It isn’t.

Not just, anyway.

It’s what happens when you’ve been adapting to a world that never adapts to you.

When every space demands you translate yourself just to be tolerated.
