Galway arson cases in Roscahill in 2024 and in Kiltulla in 2020 led to no convictions, giving other violent racists more confidence they will get away with it. Sadly an IPAS centre in Drogheda was attached last night.

Gardaí investigating alleged arson believe fire at Drogheda Ipas centre was ‘started deliberately’
Firefighters rescued five people, including a baby, from the top floor of the building on Friday.

I'll be in Galway later this month talking about Marine Protected Areas (MPAs). I'll be particularly talking about an MPA for Galway Bay - what would it look like? How would it work? What could we expect from it in terms of wildlife recovery?

Truly shocking display of climate deny/defer/do not care from our climate minister. Play down the fines so no one feels the need to take any action. 1/3

An Coimisiún Pleanála ( formerly ABP) have passed the Dyke Road Car Park Development in #Galway for 219 Apartments. The details of the conditions will be issued later. I am hoping some of the flood issues I raised have been considered.

Hospitality industry needed support in the budget, but by using a very blunt instrument we are subsidising fast food too much. The VAT reduction should have been targeted at the smaller businesses where it is most needed.
It's official. They're giving big restaurant chains a massive tax cut, costing nearly €700m in the #VAT cut to hospitality.

For that kind of money you could:

Great news for Galway that An Commisiún Planála have given final approval for the Dublin Rd BusConnects. My cycle commute is on this road and the plans will make this far more attractive to cycle and quicker on the bus. Crossing at ATU to also be improved

Such a shame - Ireland wastes 500,000 disposable cups a day and there is such an easy solution - reusable cups- but the government no longer backs it. More backpedaling by a government that no longer has the Greens and instead caves to every business lobby group. 1/2
