This sign in a retail outlet in November 2025 is a failure of public health communication.

Complete. Failure.

But the people who profit off us being in debt prefer to keep it that way.
FYI, one of the most common observations from UBI pilots is that people pay down their debts and increase their savings. You can even see a recent example in this chart, where people did that with their stimulus checks.

If we had universal basic income, we wouldn't pay for our existence with debt.
There goes 90+ day credit-card delinquencies. New cycle high.

Yes, the loss of #measles elimination status is proof that Public Health in Canada is broken.

They had one job. They saw this coming. We saw it coming.

And they did NOTHING.

Fire them all. Require all public health & infectious disease education programs in the country revise their curriculum.

I don’t know how to say this without sounding harsh, but I need you to hear it. COVID — or SARS-2 — is not “just another cold.” It doesn’t leave you the same. Every reinfection stacks damage: brain, heart, immune system.

Here's where we are in terms of how society views infectious diseases: saw a nurse today who told me that she and all the other nurses at the hospital are "immune to covid" because they "get it so much"

The average person on the street is not more educated than this, either. It's everywhere.

Yup. And whether they didn’t see this coming or just didn’t care, all of them need to be voted out.
In response to this claim that the "strategy didn't work."

The people were on our side. We were building momentum to help save our democracy. We could have won - the premium increase notices were just starting.

And giving in now will embolden him. Things will likely get worse.

This is heartbreaking. We have 🇨🇦 seen deaths, and an uncontrolled outbreak, and now lost elimination status after nearly 3 decades having it and almost 6 decades of work to eliminate measles.

Measles is a deadly virus, and the vaccine to prevent it is safe and effective.

For those of you in Public Health and Infectious Disease communities who are offended by this, let's turn that around:

If bad engineering led to a plane falling out of the sky or a bridge collapsing or the electrocution of kids in a daycare, I'd call that out, too.

Address failure. Directly.

You had one job.

Just maintain the #measles status that your predecessors had established.

But you couldn't even do that.

This is what failure looks like.

It's time Public Health & the Infectious Disease communities to grow up and accept that they need help from experts outside their community.

Public Health officials and infectious disease experts in Canada:

Take a bow.

You did it.

You've let #measles come back. Andrew Wakefield must be so proud.

You refused to accept #CleanAir recommendations from experts (and non-experts) from outside your insular little community.
It's official: Canada has lost its measles elimination status because of an outbreak that has persisted for more than 12 months. Country can regain status only if on-going spread is of measles interrupted for more than a year. www.cbc.ca/news/health/... via @cbcnews.ca
