Haibun anyone? This new piece investigates the popular poetic form:
"In her Feb. 2014 essay, 'More than the Birds, Bees, and Trees,' poet Aimee Nezhukumatathil explains that a haibun juxtaposes a poetic prose journey or landscape description..."

This crab is going to organize its community against digital surveillance and I am here for it.
I wanted to get a video of this ghost crab but every time I got close to their hole they scuttled back in, so I tried getting clever with it. I made a little sandcastle and shoved my phone into it, hit record, and walked away. Crab was VERY suspicious of this addition to their environment.

BREAKING: A court ruled that the federal government can't pick and choose among viewpoints when deciding who gets a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

We took the Trump administration to court to fight artistic censorship — and won.

Say. it. louder. for. the. people. in. the. back! 👏🏽
When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.

I’m already seeing people who position themselves as progressive or liberal “joking” that Trump should occupy these cities instead. Y’all are so disappointing.
The thing is, I’m pretty sure these all majority black cities and I’m worried that Trump will eventually try to occupy them too at some point. The fact that they are in Republican-controlled states isn’t a gotcha so much as evidence of how they’ve been maligned by their state governments.
“The four cities of populations larger than 100,000 with the highest murder rates in 2024 are in Republican states: Jackson, Mississippi (78.7 per 100,000 residents), Birmingham, Alabama (58.8), St Louis, Missouri (54.1) and Memphis, Tennessee (40.6).”
