Wrote about my goal to focus more on process this year. There's one of my favorite process prompts at the end...

First book of the year was Hackers by Aase Berg translated by @johannesg.bsky.social. A feast of image and language. Second book of the year I Do Know Some Things by Richard Siken. A testament to the power and vulnerability of language, the body and memory.

Thanks for all of your suggestions for reading poetry in translation. That is plenty to keep me busy for a while... I appreciate the response!

I want to read more contemporary poetry in translation this year... Starting with Aase Berg's Hackers but would love some recommendations.

All the celebrations are over, even though ours are more about hanging out than anything else. Christmas in Nashville with our son (traditions including tv Yule log, video games, beef Wellington, and Die Hard) and my siblings and the whole crew in Madison. Hope yours was full of love, too.

Thank you so much for reading. What a lovely gift!
I have been savoring Donna Vorreyer’s Unrivered (Sundress Publications, 2025). Took her with me to Bela for one of their last evenings open. Here she is in candle glow with ginger lemon tea and holiday lights, and yes, she was accompanied by cake.🍰 📖 @sundresspub.bsky.social @djvorreyer.bsky.social

Not cool, press that charged money to submit to your prize and then announced your finalists on social media before you sent responses in Submittable...

Not much would make me want to leave the house today when it is so cold, but a good friend's birthday gathering with PIZZA is enough to make it happen. (I shouldn't be this excited about pizza, but now that I'm older, pizza (like a cookie) is a "sometimes food" for me.

Gotta love all the big journals who have had my packets for 9-12 months (some with only one poem that hasn't been withdrawn) doling out the batch form rejects just before the holidays.
