Socialist ideas from a classical musician's perspective | 🌹

The purpose of this account is as follows: Musicians operate in a capitalist society and as a result, are undervalued. Like your typical worker in any other area, musicians work tirelessly, but with little to show for it because the system is designed to never pay them for...

In college, I had to read the Department of Defense’s Law of War manual.

I kid you not when I tell you that firing at the shipwrecked is quite literally provided as an example of an illegal order.

A college student complaining about a grade on a paper is not national news. Not even close. The details have minimal import outside the class itself.

Well-funded political activists targeting profs and TAs—in this case because they're trans—with the help of elected state officials? National issue.

Public offices are meant to serve the public.

This kind of self-dealing is the corruption we have to root out before we can rebuild trust in our government.

Billionaires are demonic parasites sucking off Trump, ushering in fascism while looting the treasury and slashing the social safety net. If you can’t admit this you aren’t on the team you’re a useful idiot for the right. You’re diet MAGA.

If Carville really believes this, then he should be sending this message to every Democratic politician in the country.

Granted he's in his 80s, but this is certainly a better message that what he was saying a few months ago.

Opportunism or not, this is a better message.

At this point, I can't fathom why anyone would give the Republicans any sort of credit on any position they have.

You can't say they're doing great on the border and immigration when the answer the GOP has is having ICE round up US citizens.

You can't say they're doing great...

We're proud to endorse Kat Abughazaleh in IL-9!

@katmabu.bsky.social has never hesitated to call out abuse of power or stand with communities targeted by ICE and growing authoritarian forces.

Her bold, grassroots campaign demands a government that works for all of us.

Well, you know the economy is in the shitter when even Carville is starting to sound like FDR.

There are many that are probably repeating over and over again, as if they're trying to convince themselves, "Mamdani was a one-off. NYC was a unique happenstance."

Here they are right now:

Please watch this.

The Senate killed a bill to ban state regulation of AI by a vote of 99-1 this spring. Now the industry - eager to stay unregulated - and Trump are scheming to shove the provision in the national defense bill.

You need to know this, so you can help stop it.

I think people should follow Zohran Mamdani's words rather than expecting him to endorse any particular candidate.

"The era of endorsements deciding elections is over."

It really doesn't matter if Zohran Mamdani endorses anyone. If the democratic process removes Jeffries, so be it.

I have a different take on this primary challenge to Jeffries than others (because I'm not in elected office).

At the core of my socialism lies a deep belief in worker democracy. As a result, if someone wants to engage in the democratic process and have a chance to make their case, great.

I saw a post talking about how people are praising Mamdani for meeting with Trump are the same people who criticized Harris for campaigning with Liz Cheney.

If you have a hard time understanding why people criticized Harris but not Mamdani, this post sums it up.
Mamdani just played Trump without sacrificing immigrants, Muslims, workers, or the LGBTQ.

Trump did his transactional charm offensive, Mamdani countered without compromising.

He won big and this is the man the Democratic Establishment still won't embrace.

What more do people need to see?

It's not the appearance that people criticized. It's the values she espoused while she campaigned.

Harris took a defensive stance on Israel and shied away from the strong economic message she started her campaign with.

Mamdani had a strong economic message and kept it even with the Trump visit.

Don't forget: President Trump relentlessly attacked @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social & did everything to stop his win.

It's funny how his tune changed when confronted with Mamdani’s actual focus on affordability — something Trump claims to care about.

Let this be a lesson: Always stand up to a bully.

How come Gen X voters are the least likely to vote for Democrats after the GOP just torched everything and made peoples' lives objectively worse?

Baby Boomers are even more likely to vote for Democrats.
Generic Ballot Polling Among Gen X:

🔵 Democrats: 50%
🔴 Republicans: 47%

we gotta keep hammering over and over again just how fucking unpopular this guy is with every institution and every person in a position of power

people hate him and people will hate you for capitulating to him
Enten: "This is probably the worst 10 day period for the president in the polls his entire second term. The numbers are just atrocious ... when your best poll has you 14 points underwater, you know it's truly bad and it's as bad as 26 points underwater ... -43 with independents! They despise him."

Just to reinforce that words mean something, a mayor or president following laws passed by their legislatures or city councils is NOT "expanding" or "maximizing" executive power. It's using the power they have.
Going to war without authorization of Congress, that'd be executive power expansion
