Case and point. This is from 2016, but the numbers haven't gotten much better. The share of the US population that is foreign-born is modest when compared to other countries.

This is a big reason why I am very disappointed in @sanders.senate.gov for saying Trump has done better on the border.

That's not only categorically false, it insinuates that the GOP's response of "deporting everyone" is the direction we must go in.

I really don't want to see any politicians that are supposed to be in opposition to the GOP giving them credit on anything.

The GOP has shown that they're incompetent on literally every single issue. That's not an exaggeration.

...on affordability when the GOP's answer is universal tariffs, even on items the US doesn't produce.

You can't say they're doing great on healthcare when they're willing to let the ACA subsidies expire without any sort of single payer system as a replacement.

The @socialists.nyc got Mayor elect Mamdani elected, so with or without his approval, they should be running other candidates everywhere they can.

Become a powerhouse and ruthless so that the establishment fears you.

I think these days, you should run with or without anyone's permission. Can you seek out advice? Sure, but if you want to run for office, run for office.

Zohran Mamdani's job right now is to implement his agenda and it seems he's really committed to doing that. Let him be major of NYC for now.

Hopefully project 2028 has even less red.

Let's remember though, AOC is generally a very cautious politician. She always has been. As for Mamdani, he needs to focus on doing his job and that's understandable. He's not in the House right now and we don't know what exactly he said behind closed doors.

At the same time, Jeffries is a big boy. He, at this point in his life, should be able to do both do his job and campaign. That's what is expected of him right now and it's what's expected of every politician in a leadership position.
November 23, 2025 at 6:04 PM
If the argument is "A primary challenge to Jeffries would take him away from his job in the House." I don't buy that at all. If he was worried about having to do his job and campaign at the same time, then he should never have become a politician.

We can't want democracy some of the time.
