The problem with ranked choice voting is when it becomes strategic gaming of a system. Ranked choice voting is to cast the votes for who you really want to win, not to play candidates as a statement and hope that your third choice actually wins the election.

Had an enlightening conversation with a Metro Transit Operator this week. We were talking about the unique differences in operating a bus versus operating a train. (1/3)

Attending the “Future of West 7th” meeting hosted by a large number of folks at North Garden Theater. Yet another community meeting about the problems of West 7th as a State Highway running through our neighborhood not to mention the constant battles over transit types.

My cell number is in the hands of a lot of conservative text lists for unknown reasons. After the election they went silent. Since the shutdown, I've been getting at least 5+ texts a day from various lists. I'd say that a political party somewhere is nervous about this shutdown blowing back on them.

It drives me absolutely crazy that all the icons in @microsoft.com Office 365 look so similar. How many times a day do I accidentally open another instance of Outlook instead of Word. Microsoft. Please fix this. On a PC.
Thank you for your consideration.

If the National Guard is deployed to Minnesota, I’d like to think that we work out some way to invite them to experience how awesome the twin cities are. If they are being given a trip to a peaceful place under the guise of it being terrible we might as well ensure they see it for how awesome it is.

I think Josh's judgment is correct, this has GOP vibes.

Btw, fraud *on* the government (what we have had in MN) is not the same as fraud *in* the government (which we don't have), which is also distinct from political corruption (a local problem, imho). They are not the same.

Anyone else receive text messages from the North Star State Poll saying they want feedback on key issues to help empower Minnesota voices.

The survey questions have a bit of a push polling feel and were worded clumsily especially on culture war issues. Any ideas of the source of this?

At Concordia Ave and Pascal. What would it take to at least get some bollards in place to enforce the right turn only onto Pascal to prevent cars from driving in that bike lane?

The chances of serious injury, crime and death are much higher driving a car; more people continue to perceive transit as unsafe. This perception shaped by sensational media of transit crimes, paired with limited reporting on the dangers of driving distort risk

Dearest Martha,

I write from the front lines of war-torn Portland. Today I fought bravely through a hostile farmers market, narrowly surviving a volley of kombucha bottles. Supplies of pour-over coffee and oat milk run low. Clouds of artisanal incense fill the sky, the drum circles beat incessantly

Has anyone been posting photos from “war ravaged Portland”? I think it would be good for the entire country to see the sheer devastation of an American city that is supposedly ravaged by war.

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

I used to drive between St. Paul & St. Cloud on I-94 weekly. I drove during various times of the day and would pass off-ramps that I never saw anyone use. I never thought those ramps didn't deserve to exist. I assumed someone must use them or find value in them.
