I think the Anyone But Carter folks were very strong this year and the opposition candidates listened and nodded their heads with the right groups. I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think there are many who ranked Carter 2nd.

Ooh boy Mayor Carter should have probably campaigned.

Your description of the fear of modern government in St. Paul is spot on!
A government, that provides services by assembling a large body that pays the same rate together throughout the city and doesn't require me to paste together a solution on my own?! That sounds suspicious, run away!

door holding also causes an operator to have to call in for support so they can get lunch and bathroom breaks. They have to maintain a schedule and that schedule is tight for breaks. So don’t hold a door. Let the operator have a good day of work. (3/3)

He pointed out the problem with door holding in a way I never considered it before. Yes, it makes everyone late, lets in cold air, and disrupts the commute. But… (2/3)

My final thought for the evening on this meeting. I hope leadership heard a strong desire for a roadway that improves all aspects of accessing our neighborhood: walking, biking, mass-transiting, and yes, even driving. The road is unsafe now. A simple mill and overlay will make drivers drive faster.

It seems that for some, if the feedback doesn’t unify around what they want, then there hasn’t been enough process.

I didn’t get a chance to make my statement/question. What I want to ask is that all of these stakeholders don’t slack on the project and align for the overall outcome. Tearing up this road for repairs is great but tearing it up again for pedestrian infrastructure and then the next and the next. Ugh

The “thing” that I have found completely exhausting about discussion of West 7th is that so many people assume what they want is what everyone wants. I have stood in shock at so many meetings to hear people tell me I must not really live here because I want something they don’t.

I think an important thing that most folks miss is that the “ideas that are being crammed down people’s throats” are the result of community engagement and the synthesis of community feedback. Just because you dislike it doesn’t mean it wasn’t born out of process.

Cost to rebuild West 7th is $400M which is more than the entire budget that MNDot has to fund all MNDot projects in the district including freeways.

Suggestion for the city to take funding from Summit to pay for West 7th; however, Summit is a city street and West 7th is a Highway.

Specifically 13 years of process.

First community member asks for more process. Note the few slides slide at the beginning of this gathering about the all of the process that has been in place since 2010. Also a later speaker who states she has been involved in this process for many years.

They will continue to sue and delay and then complain when the project comes in over budget due to legal bills and poor forecasting because of the delays.

A past employer wanted to mandate everyone return to office after downsizing to a smaller space during the pandemic. They felt the lobby furniture, collaboration tables, and unused conference rooms would be good space for those who didn't reserve an actual desk in time each day.
