Australian.
Observer of politics and public discourse.
I care about factual correctness. A lot.
Anti-“anti-woke” (factual critique of the left is fine but that ain’t what they’re doing).
Lies thrive because they create more political energy than truth.
Totally the right position to take by Blue Mountains Council.

Everyone should watch this. Then share it with anyone who thinks these tariffs are a good idea and won’t crush small businesses.

Had Carter been reelected, the chances are good we would now be living in a less catastrophic world. It's hard to remember how comparatively easy it would have been to choose a more sustainable path in the 1980s.
I think we profoundly underestimate the impact on our imaginations of the retrospective view we have living in a world where all sane tempos of climate action are wildly disruptive.

Editorial: It is telling that Dutton’s only detailed policies are on nuclear power and the winding back of reconciliation. He trades in fantasy and prejudice. One policy is set in an impossible future and the other is in a troglodyte past. www.thesaturdaypaper.com.au/comment/edit...

It is not unusual for opposition leaders to perform better than they should in the polls. It’s a gentle way for voters to register their dissatisfaction. The surprise is that it’s true even for Peter ...

The LNP's latest non-plan is nothing more than a re-election tactic & to extend the life of coal and gas on behalf of their large fossil fuel donors.

Don't fall for it.

They are knowingly lying to the Australian people - and putting all our futures at great risk.

Dutton’s nuclear policy is not about nuclear power, it’s about extending the life of the gas and coal industries.

This, by any definition, is corruption.

Trump 2.0 will be chaotic and destructive. Many of the key institutions of liberal democracy will be weakened if not obliterated. But this is not because Trump is a sinister and powerful mastermind. He's a rich credulous dope who surrounds himself with other rich credulous dopes, like this guy.
The Laura Loomer story line made me remember back to January of 2018 when I did a deep dive into the bizarro world of Dr. Eric Kaplan, a rich doctor who is a member at Mar-a-Lago and a golfing partner of Donald Trump's. He is also a totally credulous dope who believes every pro-Trump conspiracy.
