This is why I get so happy over Christmas - it's not the mince pies or the carols or the family time or the presents. It's completely unplugging from social media for two weeks, and so temporarily avoiding keeping up with this sort of thing. It makes me so aghast. ⤵️
Starmer's tweet couldn't be clearer but a bit awkward when one of the main government comms platforms literally does this as a feature now

Bluesky, help me out... What would you do about a totally fabricated quote attributed to you in a journal article?
I suspect the author has used GenAI to research their article and it just made this (frankly tortuous) quote up - the article it cites is from 2013! I had no concept of GenAI then.

Picked my Dad up from hospital yesterday after a minor procedure to correct an issue with his tear ducts, and he was telling me how brilliant everyone was throughout.
He just texted me:
"The NHS would move me to tears if I still had any!"
