"Hello, my name is [name] and I'm calling about a property in the Alliance 985 Business Park in Oakwood, Georgia. I understand that one of the warehouse buildings may be under consideration for use as a federal immigration detention center.
I'm calling because I believe this transaction poses a serious financial risk that [Alliance/Avison Young] may not have evaluated."
WHAT KIND OF RISK?
Alliance Industrial Company has multiple properties for sale or lease in the Oakwood area. If a federal detention center begins operating at one of those sites, the value and markeability of the neighboring properties will drop significantly. Commerical tenants and buyers avoid proximity to detention facilities. Senator Warnock's amendment would prohibit the use of federal funds for the “acquisition, construction, renovation, or expansion” of immigrant detention facilities in the Georgia towns of Social Circle and Oakwood.

Today we met with detainees including Rodney Taylor to hear from them directly about the conditions in Stewart Detention Center. This detention center is notorious and accounts for the majority of deaths in ICE custody.
