Breaking: San Francisco today will sue 10 of the biggest manufacturers of ultraprocessed food, arguing the companies knew their products were making people sick but sold them anyway. The fare makes up 70% of the country’s food supply.

Now that Jimmy Kimmel is getting reinstated, many MAGA figures are trying to argue that this shows Trump *didn't* use authoritarian abuses to originally oust him.

This is a transparent scam from MAGA, and media figures should not be gaslit by it.

New piece from me:

MAGA Rages over Jimmy Kimmel’s Return—and Reveals a Big Trump Weakness
Trump and his FCC commissioner absolutely did try to bully ABC-Disney with authoritarian tactics. But there was a massive backlash, and they failed. Let’s remember that.

re: tariff inflation discourse, it's worth mentioning again that if tariffs *don't* raise prices, then there's no way they "incentivize" domestic production

The mechanism by which they're supposed to re-shore industry is by increasing prices for imported goods and reducing trade

Last year the Supreme Court ruled that punishing a person for sleeping in public, even if they have nowhere else to go, doesn't violate the Eighth Amendment’s cruel and unusual punishment clause.

In the year since the decision, cities have passed nearly 220 bills criminalizing unhoused people.

We all need to come to terms with the fact that we're living through a political revolution.

The regime change from democracy to authoritarianism is still in motion, and can be reversed, but it's also much further along than we'd like to accept. It's a different system, not just different policies
