Democratizing the arts looks like universal income, low-barrier grants for both emerging and working artists, well-funded municipal arts & recreation programs, vibrant third spaces, and a well-funded public school system with progressive curriculum.

Not a free pass for corporate-owned slop engines.
Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

if you get a chance to experience @parkersela.bsky.social 's Remote Retrocheiromancy, I strongly recommend it. A really unique and moving phone show that I'm definitely going to be thinking about for a while.

we've been working on a new show! it's sort of an absurdist collective shout into the void with the most cheerfully monstrous digital assistant in the world! it's early still in development (rewrote the ending four times last week) but i'm really proud of You Have Already Won.
cirqueSaw (creators of labRats) has a new remote show! You Have Already Won is an interactive satirical piece where audiences play as the world’s wealthiest elite deciding the future of humanity from the safety of their climate bunkers. Next performance 2/5.

I can't even begin to express how much it means to me to get this kind of recognition for labRats. this project is probably the most personal work of art I've ever made, and to have it recognized alongside artists whose work I admire so deeply is a dream come true.
More from today's spotlight: Watch LabRats win the Live Action Award, and learn a bit more about the experience! @nathanleigh.bsky.social @nicoleorabona.bsky.social

i think the most remarkable thing about catherine o'hara is the way she always made her scene partners shine. she was so generous with how she directed focus to others and it meant that even when she wasn't the source of the joke, her presence made a scene funnier.

the thing about project genie is that if you're afraid of AI's ability to instantly make games that are derivative and not enjoyable to play, the answer isn't using AI to make your own derivative unenjoyable games to compete, but to be as human as humanly possible in the games you make.

can anyone explain to me why funding RFK's HHS isn't also a sticking point? (I don't mean this sardonically, I'm genuinely curious if that would be tactically useful to force him out and restore a reality-driven HHS and I haven't been able to find anything either way...)
