A note on worry: worry doesn't solve problems, worry doesn't help others, worry doesn't help us, worry doesn't accomplish. I'm not going to tell anyone not to feel bad, things are scary and people are getting hurt. But I know worry and despair aren't going to help those who are being hurt.
And the Virginia and New Jersey elections which were actually won (compared to Platner)?
A base that has long made pragmatic, sober decisions appears increasingly attracted to charismatic outsiders who promise to break from the party’s failures of the last decade. They see their party’s leaders as feckless and inept.

It’s the Democratic Tea Party, with a twist. trib.al/mC5cBDA

I look through so much of this site, & I see so much of this site darting around, throwing mudballs, and not realizing the opportunity we have, not just this year, but the next 3 years. It's within our grasp, but people dart around like what Daniel Day-Lewis in Lincoln called pettifogging hucksters

Why does, when he's talking dues paying orgs list the IWW (and international trade union) with political orgs but not other trade unions (international or not)?
It's genuinely funny when *neoliberals* call DSA small

Your largest dues-paying organization is in the range as Trotskyists and Maoists!

The nightmare scenario involves a *very* small number of seats...it is not looking like it'll come down to a small number for the House at least...
Over the past three weeks, the "nightmare scenario" for November's midterms has grown more plausible www.vox.com/politics/478...

The halftime show was the only good thing about tonight as the game was kinda dull (great jobby Seattle D though) & the commercials was mostly AI shit or crap like Good Will Dunkin that sucked worse than those (the Rocket Mortgage at least had a good song). The halftime show was excitjng & original.

If bakery owners can't be required to serve baked goods to people they are prejudiced against, banks should not be required to serve private prisons.

In fact, it would be good if service could *not* be refused based on bigotry, but businesses *could* refuse to assist companies who warehouse humans.
In 2019, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, SunTrust, BNP Paribas, Fifth Third Bancorp, PNC Bank, and Bank of America said that they would no longer provide any new financing to the private prison industry.
ICE’s Private Prison Contractors Spent Millions Lobbying to Force Banks to Give Them Loans
Major banks have denied financing to ICE prison contractors GEO Group and CoreCivic — but a bill pushed by companies could force their hand.

To be clear I enjoyed that Halftime Show, and the design and set up was really nice and unique. Even if I did miss the Pedro Pascal (and...Jessica Alba?) Appearance

It occurs to me-I haven't watched a Superbowl Halftime Show in *years* (in fact, twice I went to a bar that did giveaways every commercial break-got a dandy travel cooler once) but now, I actually really want to see it

ICE has been holding a disabled double amputee named Rodney Taylor in a camp for a year.

He’s been in the US since he was two years old.

It’s all he knows.

When they detained him, they denied him access to new prosthetic legs.

His health is declining.
