As an aside, I'm prettynsure that's national Indivisble. Local chapters (the only ones really doing anything with Indivisible) pretty much do what they want and view national as kind of a joke...based on what I hear

I do wonder what the difference was between McConnell (who had essentially 100% control of his Caucus in his prime, with theblone *occassional* exception of McCain) and literally everyone else. I'm not arguing, just trying to figure out how the exception did it

Small correction, but is it Cory Booker? I only ask as the misspelling is throwing me if it is

I ran into one of the folks who worked on the original movies in the practical effects/creature construction side, he considered rhe prequels as a whole to be a wasted opportunity and that they turned Obi-Wan into a failed nanny for Anakin...

Hell, it's not just the shutdown of passenger traffic-this would've shutdown air freight during the busiest shopping season of the year. Why I'm convinced Republicans would've cracked

Nitpick: the true history around Chamberlain is considerably more complex that what pop history (and American Carol) usually say

Yeah, but anyone who looked at her congressional record (like me) thought that odd at best

While I've certainly been critical of Dems, I actually have no beef with Schumer on this. He even kept folks like Gary Peters (who in addition to being centrist is retiring) in line. After listening to the 8 at the presser, I don't think Harry Reid would've kept them.

I'm trying to think of who'd even want the job. Durbin is retiring. That leaves Chief Deputy Whip Schatz and current DSCC Gillibrand (former 2 term DSCC Chair Gary Peters is retiring also)

Once the stock market dropped by a Third (when the airports, and this air freight, shutdown), the heat would've been on them. They'd have caved.

Going to reread Soapy (the biography of MI Gov G. Mennen "Soapy" Williams, one of my heroes). Rereading how he beat the odds to first get elected Gov, and then again in passing Michigan's first Civil Rights law might energize me

Having said that, even in not blaming Schumer, I'm feeling pretty hopeless right now

While I'm not the Schumer supporter you are, I've got to agree. Hearing the statements from the US Senate 8 afterwards...I'm not sure Harry Reid could've stopped them

Would they have once the airports shutdown (and that includes air freight), as the stock market lost 1/3 of its value as commerce slowly groubd to a halt. They would've cracked when that happened and we were so close

At least 2 different people have already posted that they're more upset that they suffered for nothing than if it had continued
