One advantage of having a baby who decided that he was going to have his longest awake period yet at midnight is that I ended up still awake myself for a prime time Bills game.

Not sure the most recent series of The Bear has got the goods. The first two series, each episode felt like it had such purpose. A lot of these are just... A loose assemblage of scenes. Some of the scenes are good! Just misses some vitality.

I know Disney live action remakes are redundant exercises, but I feel like this Moana film reaches new depths of pointlessness - it looks like the animated films with some people digitally inserted youtu.be/QKYFfYLe5rs?...

For people who follow me who don't know anything about the NFL, I'm at the "fire management" stage of fandom.

It may be a bit trite to say, but having just experienced four days with the NHS, they really are incredible. Underfunded, understaffed, but the midwives we encountered at every step of a slightly complicated journey have been absolutely sensational. Oh and I'm a Dad now??

Sure hope the Bills won't need that timeout at the end of this half, Sean.

Distressed to see a Black Sheep Coffee is on the way to Bruntsfield. The Brewdog of coffee (highly derogatory) only much more prolific.

@minakimes.bsky.social @benjaminsolak.bsky.social @arif.bsky.social can someone who knows something about football help this casual British viewer, why did the Bucs just do that same play four times in a row when it didn't work on any of them? Could they not have passed?

Explaining to Natalie that while we're winning by a lot today, we still won't make a deep playoff run with this receiving core.
watching the bills lead 26-3 but shaking my head so everyone knows i don’t approve

There must be some kind of glitch in the Panthers-Jets broadcast because it sounds like the commentary is coming straight from the 1930s.

Learned that an anonymous outside expert on submersibles did an interview with the OceanGate Titan investigation, and they released a transcript, with all the names redacted. The first line of his first answer? "I'm sure you're familiar with my film Titanic."

Such a shame who they voted out first in Traitors - that person gave a flawless (correct) defense of why they were not a traitor, plus they were one of the more interesting personalities there imo.

I'm sure Holyrood's editors are well aware of Betteridge's Law of Headlines.

Drew Struzan is one of those artists who effectively redefined their art form, as important to the movie poster as Saul Bass. Impossible to choose a favourite, but I love him applying his signature style to the Muppets.

I think we're at capacity for literary retellings of Greek/Roman myths. Well done, everyone, that's enough now.
Tell me your most unhinged literary opinion, as a little treat

Watching Celebrity Traitors and I don't know what point in the 2010s Stephen Fry tipped over from "potential national treasure" to utterly insufferable, but I think he's out of the running.

the ending of THE GODFATHER, the best american movie ever made, doesn't work without diane keaton's final look --- at the realization of who she's married and what her life is going to become and what corruption lurks behind closed doors. unforgettable, inimitable work. RIP.

I don't remember who beat Jeffrey Wright to Best Actor when he was up for American Fiction, but I can guarantee they weren't as good as Jeffrey Wright.
