I wish folks were serious about the reduction of violence, but that would require seeing denial of food, homes, and healthcare as violence in of itself, which creates a violent reaction in turn. There'd be less crime if people where cared for. But we don't encourage care for people hence violence.

one of the things that's so invigorating about Mamdani's win is how upset the right seems to be. it shouldn't matter to them what flavor of Democrat runs New York City, but they're unnerved because they know that his style of progressive populism has broad appeal.
