Couple weeks ago I met someone through mutual friends and he goes “you are the scooter lady.”

I’d rather be known for scooting in the rain than driving in sunshine.

Best compliment ever.

You should build bike lanes for people who are not currently biking and build housing for people who don't currently live in your neighborhood.

Others are great at logistics.

Forced car dependency robs society of any chance at financial freedom. America doesn't have a "love obsession with cars", they simply have not been given a choice.

Be like @taras-grescoe.com 🚲❄️
Postcard from #Montréal.

Bixis under the snow.

I rode my own winter bike to work. Rough sledding, with few of the streets plowed.

And 20 cm on Nov. 11 is a bit much, ‘stie!

I was recently asked how to maintain bike/ped safety and keep the traffic moving at the same speed.

You can’t. It’s not lack of willingness or tech. It’s physics.

It’s also like choosing vegetables versus candy. Can’t have both.

This a big deal: "China’s carbon dioxide emissions have been flat or falling for 18 months"

China's economy has grown by ~5% in the last year, so this comprehensively debunks the idea (again) that emissions are tied to growth. So yes, faster progress needed, but this is how you turn the corner.

Clean cars… is there even such thing?
Asking for myself.

Even if they are electric, the space they take, safety, $$$ make them anything but clean.

Science: Vaccines are effective in preventing many diseases
People: Yeah, but no.

Science: Vehicle emissions significantly contribute to climate change.
People: Can’t be that bad, we will take our chances.

Non-science: Red wine might be cardio protective.
People: See you at a happy hour.

The new family vehicles of Paris. I think that if a Parisian cycling activist came out of ten years of hibernation and went into the street, what would seem most unbelievable to them would be seeing all these bikes with childrens on the back ;)

— NYC The market share of e-bike sharing is greater in regions characterized by lower income levels, larger employment, larger population, and residential areas (Zhang et al., 2025)

Most kids don’t need another iPad. They need a bike lane so they don’t have relay on racing in a virtual environment but can cycle alongside each other.

Most kids don’t really want another iPad. They want to play outside as carefree as they do it in a virtual world (and cross the road without getting ran over).

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people.

Sound efficient?
