It was great chatting with you @zoeschlanger.bsky.social about fire smoke chemical composition!
Our modern houses full of plastic burn faster, hotter, and release more toxic smoke. Your couch is like a block of gasoline. The gases from these can be toxic, and can't be filtered by an N95 like particulate matter can. Gift link: www.theatlantic.com/science/arch...

I have to say that I’m thoroughly enjoying the timing of #AMS2025, right after a lovely vacation. Rather than coming back to work with a ton of admin, I come back to work learning a ton from smart people and brainstorming new ideas!

So I should always take a vacation before conferences?

The #NBDGroup is at #AMS2025 this week at the Atmospheric Ice Processes session. Looking forward to an ice-solutely great session and it’ll be really ice to see you there! (Snow joke in serious!)

Hind was such an energetic researcher and leader, it's hard to imagine she is gone. This is a nice summary of some of her contributions to EDI, in her own words pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC...
Hey #ChemSky, I learned this morning that Hind Al-Abadleh passed away a few days ago after a brief illness. She was such a force of nature, with great research and so much important involvement in the (especially Canadian) chemistry community. She will be greatly missed.

My group has noticed that our paper acceptance emails tend to come through when the lead student author is on vacation.

So the obvious conclusion is to take more vacation right? 😄

Hey #chemsky. Getting into the Christmas spirit and both ChemScrapes e-books will be free in your local kindle store from 00:00 (PST) on 22 December - 23:59 (PST) 26 Dec 2024.

I just found some typos, but it's OK - it wouldn't be ChemScrapes if it were perfect :). Please help spread the word.

There are about 27,000 scientists at #AGU24, and about half of them work on climate one way or another. Whenever I walk into a room like this, I always take a moment to take it all in—all these people dedicated their lives to working on some of our toughest problems. That gives me strength.
It is always mind boggling at how massive @agu.org is every year. This is just one session of the poster room, which changes over twice daily for the duration of the conference. #AGU24
