Patrice Lumumba, the iconic DRC independence leader and its first Prime Minister, was brutally murdered on January 17, 1961. Remarkable to think he was overthrown by the venal and treacherous Mobutu Sese Seko after just 73 days on September 5, 1960, having ascended to office on June 24, 1960.

‼️ Although the rumour of big-scale evictions of camps by the Tunisian authorities that made its way around some weeks ago did not come true, we want to stress that there have been several smaller but no less violent raids. Migrants die every day as there is no medical care available.

⭕UPDATE: After waiting for over 2 years for his trial, and with the initial February date already postponed, M. Elfallah appeared in court yesterday, only to learn that the prosecution had presented his case to the wrong court—as if they hadn’t had enough time to figure this out!
M. Elfallah, a 16-year-old boy, faces 4.670 years in prison for being on a boat with his father, fleeing Libya and wanting to reach the EU. He is charged with "facilitation of unauthorized entry of 467 third-country nationals into Greek territory".
