Hot take: voting should be daily, not annually. We should be required to pass a civics captcha, which shows that you understand the civics question, and you can try infinitely until you get it right, every day. And you should be paid with a meal for your vote.
Bat shit
I am a Black man, posting this while on an apparently extended “investigative leave,” so my GOVERNMENT EMPLOYER can look into my posts about Charlie Kirk. The First Amendment is dead and buried.

This should be the standard for every museum around the world. Return the land that was stolen, too. All of it.

The Vatican returned 62 artifacts to Indigenous peoples from Canada, a historic restitution that is part of the Catholic Church's reckoning with its role in helping suppress Indigenous culture. n.pr/43T2xmD

So apparently all senate democrats voted to keep a THC ban in the CR as a compromise to MAGA republicans.

We have no allies, gang.

Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.

The rest of us get dragged along regardless.

We who learn history are putting horrors in our memories.

The challenge, then, is not talking about this at social engagements, because it kills the vibe.

One of my biggest faults is that I think I'm smarter than I am. For example, one time I entered round 1 of a math puzzle contest and I blasted through the puzzle and mailed it off without even double checking to see if I did it right. When I didn't hear back on "round 2" I wrote an angry follow up

People who want a "strong man" for a leader are under the false impression that this "strong man" will be strong on their behalf.

They won't be.

ICYMI: SNAP running out of funds is a manufactured crisis. They have a "rainy day fund" of sorts for things like government shutdowns. Russ Vought is blocking the intended use of those funds for the performative cruelty. He is breaking the law.

How behavior between Caesar and his dominated senate parallels our current moment is is incredibly on the nose.

With Trump's illness, the role of Brutus will be played by father time.

The prospective EU law on supply chain audits is up for debate this week

I think I'll try a new strategy the next time somebody claims that the justice system was weaponized against Trump, I'll ask then if they ever served on a jury. Let it evolve from there.

We should pay citizens to learn about our government. Not a lot, just enough to compell them to pass a test. Enough to keep them learning.

Might solve some issues with trust in govt, make people less prone to vote against it reflexively.

Mind blowing.

The Luxon Government has confirmed it will rewrite NZ’s once bipartisan climate change law to dilute methane reduction targets and PERMANENTLY exclude dairy from the Emissions Trading Scheme – a move Greenpeace says amounts to full-blown climate denial.
