You ever find yourself in a good mood during the fall of civilization and feel a little guilty about feeling good?

Is that the vestigial Catholicism talking again, or is that a universal experience?

Pre-orders are up, and we will be placing an order with the printing company soon. If you want a calendar, best to pre-order because we will not order many extras. 🩵

The deeper I get into the Womanly Arts, AKA sewing and knitting, the more I realize that misogyny has been a long con in every way. Both disciplines involve tons of math, precision work, mechanical parts, and gear. All things women are told they cannot do, yet have invisibly done for centuries 🤡

I called this part a while back: “But many clients don’t appreciate the work that goes into revamping a poorly written AI article, she said, noting that companies often offer less pay for these gigs based on the assumption that they’re less demanding.”
The AI boom has created a new type of work: fixing botched AI. Designers are being hired to remake wonky AI art. Writers are asked to make ChatGPT’s writing sound more human. Even software developers are tasked with fixing buggy vibe coding.

Humans are being hired to make AI slop look less sloppy
In the age of automation, human workers are being brought in to fix what artificial intelligence gets wrong.

Dreamed that no matter which way I tried, I couldn’t Google what a pigeon was, let alone the size of an American pigeon. Mom needed a mock up for a feeder. Also John and Sherlock were involved. And I kept waking up in the dream to try it in another one. It was impossible.

Just VERY confidently told the crew at my local Starbucks to have a great Friday. Reader, today is very much NOT Friday. :/

Fucking appeasement, folks. It’s never the answer. Yet, again and again governments cave. Corporations cave. You know they will, but you hope for better. That someone in “power” will have a goddamned spine. Not today. Sigh.

I know there are bigger issues, but since when did the OED and Word start preferring -ize over -ise for British English? My job involves adhering to regional English spelling preferences. Me and my writing colleagues are feeling very Mandela Effect affected.

Today in genius analogies: using AI (aka Co-pilot) to sum up a long portion of text is on par with taking the Hastings Cutoff on the Oregon Trail. But without ending in cannibalism. Maybe. Brought to you by a fellow anti-AI writing colleague giving it a go and having immediate regrets.

this thread just moved something in my soul
Being a person with deadly, incurable cancer who is nonetheless still alive for an indefinite timeframe gives me an interesting metaphor that helps me deal with things like large-scale corruption in government or commerce.

Bear with me for a second while I try to explain.

Doing a little bit of everything. Some reading, cat snuggles, video game, movie, homemade pizza, and more TBD. I’m going to call it joy snacks because that’s how we survive dark days.
Happy new year! Remember to spend new year's day the way you want to spend the year! I'm going hiking, inventorying my seeds, ordering trees, baking bread, crocheting and reading. How about you?

Happy New Year, friends! Remember: That which does not kill us wins reelection and tries again.

Be vigilant and keep a good humor about your every day and spread laughter and good will. It’s the best inoculation against autocracy and idiocy.

Periodic reminder that just because something really good happens in your life, something bad isn’t necessarily going to happen. Even if it sometimes does. Life is a chaotic bitch and things are what they are.

The holidays have arrived and are a mixed bag. Mostly good, but a fair few shadows. However you celebrate or don’t, keep finding joy where ever you can and don’t forget to look out for yourself in all the madness. Wishing you all a great Tuesday and Wednesday, festive or not. :)

Writer: It’s called a “time jump” and we do it in narrative to sort of… fast forward over the boring parts and no it’s not a “plot hole” I did it on purpose shut up
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume

Writer: damn I was supposed to go back and fill that bit in later
Interviewer: Can you explain this gap in your resume?
