Bluesky account for the My Baseball Page blog. Baseball fan who roots for the Yankees. Previously bloviated for The Hardball Times, Pinstripe Alley, and Off the Bench Baseball.
Looking forward to all the takes from people who have been concerned about Arte Moreno’s bank account the last few years.

Truth
Ben Rice had a better xwOBA than Cal Raleigh's wOBA and its not particularly close.

Who's the best hitting catcher in the American League now?

Spoiler alert: When facing LHP, Austin Hays and Rob Refsnyder were essentially Juan Soto vs all pitching in '25. Both are good under the radar fits for this roster and the #Yankees should get one of them.

Two Under the Radar Free Agents for the Yankees
When fans get into Hot Stove discussions, they’re generally centered around big name, future Hall of Famers who are available for the right price. Juan Soto last winter. Shohei Ohtani the winter be…

I plan on circling back, but FWIW: Mike Trout had his worst more or less full season in his career by miles. And his OBP was the same as Cal Raleigh's.

The gap between Judge and Raleigh (not just OBP - everything) offensively was MASSIVE and I'm so glad just enough people realized that.

This, this, this…
Cal Raleigh had an exceptional year. Good for MVP in a great many seasons. In my view, this wasn't particularly close though. Judge is doing absolute freak shit at the plate, but he's been doing it so consistently that it doesn't feel that crazy anymore. Which is nuts!

I shouldn’t need to say this but…

Judge was a better player than Raleigh in 2025 and it wasn’t that close.

Reminder that nobody would know who Joe Maddon is if he didn’t work for, and manage rosters assembled by Andrew Friedman and Theo Epstein - and Maddon bashed “analytics” when fired by LAA. We’re not talking about a particularly bright guy here.
Certified Crank Joe Maddon is comparing the new Giants manager to, you guessed it, Mamdani

When you get past all the noise, here’s the signal: DePodesta is a good dude, had a big influence on MLB, and got a raw deal with LAD in the before times. This is a good thing.

Sure we've all talked about #WorldSeries Game 7 - but we aren't talking about these things enough...

We Need to Talk (More) About Game 7…
There hasn’t been too much left unsaid about the absurdity – in the best sense – of the final game of the 2025 MLB season. That said, there may be a few things that haven’t been said enough and bea…

I didn’t watch the postgame but I’m sure the entire FOX broadcast team said “You know what? Maybe small ball is NOT how you win in the postseason…” (…lol…)

I’m going to expand on game 7 when I get a chance but I have to say I can’t stop laughing that we listened to “they win because put it in play!” for a month…then they lost because Kirk hit a 71 mph grounder. Lol…

If Devon White played with his glove on his throwing hand, while wearing a weight vest, after three shots of Seagrams - he’d be a better CF than Daulton Varsho.

What an absolute shit show Varsho has been this postseason.
November 1, 2025 at 2:39 AM
I’m going to keep saying it: Daulton Varsho is single handedly making me doubt today’s defensive metrics.

Put a tent over that clown show in CF.
November 1, 2025 at 2:30 AM
Watching Gausman absolutely toy with elite hitters for an inning and a half before getting lit up should be a reminder to us all that relief pitchers are comically overrated.

Posting Springer’s 2017 World Series stats without context is kinda funny

This is getting a lot of play, and I get the pushback, but Murphy isn’t dumb - he’s just stirring sh!t up - and that’s not a bad thing. #NLCS

Toronto is losing a series in which their hitters have Kd three times less often than Seattle’s. And the broadcast keeps telling us Toronto is great because “they put it in play”.

Beyond parody. #ALCS

You were wrong about the 2025 #Yankees - it's OK, so was I and so were the experts. They clearly exceeded expectations this year and we should act accordingly - it was a damn good season. Your new opinion:

You Were Wrong About the 2025 Yankees (and so was I…)

I can’t express how happy I am Gleyber is killing it with Detroit. Never been a player in #Yankees history where the production was so incongruent with how he was treated.

Obviously, Judge and Jazz bombs were huge but let’s not overlook:

Five relievers, 6.2 IP shutout ball.

Boone was five for five on buttons pushed and the pitchers were lights out.
