im not sure if I can handle listening to iHeart tonight for the pilots. like i know im seeing them in Feb and that staves off the 'when will i be høme again?' thoughts and hearing them... but not being surrounded by the clique is a reminder how far from høme i feel right now

23min in now and YUP ep1 was scared to be campy so it tried to be sorta dramatic and failed at both, skip it!
ep2 shows all the backstory you need from ep1 in 15mins and has a fun lovely vibe of camp and space bureaucracy with an edge of drama like it should be

it really feels like ep2 and ep1 were both pilots and the studio was terrified of making the wrong choice so they released both which is 🙄

leaving the details and circumstance of Caleb Mir's enrollment in the academy a mystery to unravel would have been so much more satisfying, imo. we'd be wondering why he had beef with Darem? how does the chancellor know him? what's up with his mom? those would be immediate hooks to keep watching

I think this is such an important distinction & reminder
like I don't owe any allegiance to the systems and structures and the machinery of power, but there are fucking beautiful extraordinary amazing people in every corner of this country and to whatever degree I'm "patriotic" it's loyalty to them
