As always, thanks to all who had faith in my work during this year: an anthology/RPG hybrid story, an audio-drama in iambic pentameter, my first reprint/first translated work and the first time I've been long-listed for a major award. Oh...and I wrote a novel. So 2026? 🦉

The first of many coffees on the 10 hour route to Edinburgh to celebrate @lunapress.bsky.social's birthday. Despite his best efforts to pack himself, Momo the kitten remains under the care of his grandma. 😺

My author copy of 'Ihr Körper, das Schiff: Die besten internationalen Science-Fiction-Geschichten' has arrived. My first reprint but also the first time one of my stories has been translated into another language. Hopefullynot the last. 🤞 Thanks to @shoreinf.bsky.social for publishing the original

Exciting news! I am officially an "internationally known" author! One of my stories - "Brood Parasitism" - has been included in Ihr Körper, das Schiff: Die besten internationalen Science-Fiction-Geschichten , which, if my German is correct, translates to Her Body, the Ship: The Best International Science Fiction Stories.  This is super cool! I've never been translated into another language before, and it's really an honor to be included.

If any translators/international reprint anthologies would like to jump on this request, I'm game and have a decent back catalogue available. :)
Can I also just take a moment to note how nice it is when someone writes a message like this. If you like a story, tell an author. It really helps! :)
Just finished your story in "Ihr Körper, das Schiff" and so far it's my favorite one of the book. Straight forward (I like that SO much), nice sci-fi background, good ending.

Will check out your other writing too and hope someone will translate more of it.

Kitten update: Momo tested negative for FiV and is now approved to mingle with the other cats. He has selected the science fiction section of the bookshelf as his favourite place with a preference for Zamyatin and Philip K Dick among others. I am a proud father.

Abandoned kitten update. Back from the vets. Dewormed and ear mites dealt with. FIV test will be next week. He's a happy little guy.

Found this little guy abandoned in a supermarket carpark this morning. 😭 He's safe in my garden now at least. I'll take him to the vet tomorrow.

Good morning, Mr. Manuscript! After doing the requisite spell of ignoring it, post completion, today begins the task of examining it with fresh eyes in printed form, with a pencil, a highlighter and probably the first of several caffeinated drinks.

Picked up some Latvian Space Disco this morning at the local market. This afternoon's task is seeing how many words I can trim from a near 8000 word story since nobody seems to want tales of this length anymore.

Interesting bubble library I came across while out hiking yesterday. I didn't see The Librarian but I wouldn't have been surprised. 📚

In almost all cases, this is what those pushing "the future" are missing.
2/3 To my mind, an artist is not merely interested in "the end product". They are interested in the journey to get there, the process of reshaping an idea, the way in which that process changes you.

Removing that process leaves you only with the end product, and not the benefits of the journey.
