Another way of looking at it might be; without AI, Sandra's report was so long it needed a summary, and didn't address information that Bill might have needed; Jane didn't bother reading the report so needed Bill as a middleman just to put it into a different format. Both cases are stupid.

Incredible albino just arrived outside my house. I think a sparrow? I was in the middle of sponsoring a neighbour for charity and had to ask him to take his clipboard back while I rushed to grab my phone! #birding #birbs #birds #rspb #bbcspringwatch @bbcspringwatch.bsky.social @rspb.bsky.social

HoD bought graphics tablet with screen ("so, a tablet?" "Yes") for annotating and live modelling. I told him maybe the laptops we currently have with touchscreens and styluses are actually fine? He did not listen. Tablet arrived today, setup and use is fiddly and annoying, he is frustrated. Me:

Blocked by an author whose books massively helped in my early career, apparently because I replied to her in earnest on a subject where she didn't want that. Baffling.

Just before Christmas I went to Forest Farm nature reserve in Cardiff, managing to see these two stunning creatures. I cannot imagine a future of mine in which seeing a kingfisher is not a delight. Will be searching again in Rickmansworth in the next couple of months.

It's been a very busy year. I feel like I haven't had a lot of time to sit down and relax. So, this holiday's present to myself is a detailed simulation of the industry, transportation and economy of Soviet satellite states in the 1960s for long, uninterrupted gaming sessions.

I, personally, knew all of this already, of course.
"Bullshitters. Who Are They and What Do
We Know about Their Lives?"

Just read this brilliant paper that used the PISA tests to look at who bullshits.

It asked 40,000 15yos to explain a fake maths term, eg Subjunctive scaling.

So guess what it found? 🧵

I love my job because of its variety, and because I am mainly my authentic self. I have always found it really hard to, for example, script an explanation or a conversation with students. I am aware of how useful it may be in many situations. But if I am required to deliver something in a certain...
#EDUSKY Thread: Why deliberate practice and habituation might accidently lead to reduced teacher motivation.
There is a strange phenomena in teaching. In some cases new teachers join the profession and over a few years we teach them all the best ways to do things and they become amazing teachers...

I agree with some but not all; anxiety is poorly dealt with in today's schools, but knowing the needs and diagnoses of pupils is more likely to help us meet them than not knowing them. Human judgement is poor in general; it's why we test and do science. I would rather have 30 labels than none.
