Unfortunate. Imagine reading about a guy who got murdered trying to defend someone from Nazis, but then you find out a week earlier he'd spit at the Nazis and broke a taillight on the Nazis' SUV. You'd be like "oh no, he was too rude at the Nazis, I can't admire this cool and heroic guy anymore."

Nintendo keeps making me race an F-Zero 99 player whose name is literally just the N-slur with exclamation marks, but at least it's heartening to see other players going out of their way to make this shithead crash out before the end of almost every race.
