been hooked on pokemon scarlet. very "checklist" game but i like it. it's funny when my character phases into a rock and the game exercises its "stuck in a wall" failsafe measure and teleports me out

it sort of bothers me that "gameplay loop" has entered games vocabulary in the way that it has. the way people talk about it makes it sound like it's fundamental to (good) game design in a way that i think is limiting. i don't wanna be in a loop! loops don't go anywhere!

i went way overboard on the text management scripts i wrote for prodist but all of that work just paid off in the euphoric copy-pasting of that code into my new project. reduce reuse recycle!
