I realise I never mentioned what ttrpg I'm currently working on: It's a fantasy world where magic regularly seeps out of remnants left behind by a past war, with environments and creatures being drastically changed wherever the wind carries the arcane energies. Working title "Witching Winds".

I think my experience of the trilogy will be improved by me finally watching the 4th and 5th, which I'd not seen before, but I have heard... things

Lol I'm just rewatching these out of curiosity. Walken is great fun in them and they have a certain 90s style, but they did not entirely hold up.

I decided to watch a random movie from what I've got available at least once a week, and today it was Americana. Did not care for it. Halsey and Zahn McClarnon gave the best performances, everybody else was so so, and the plot was neither funny nor surprising, thrilling, or much of anything tbh.

Totally because he can clearly craft a film on a technical level, but he's always doing the writing too. I saw he's doing a new resident evil thing so I thought maybe that's the one to break the mould, but then read he'll be writing the script again. We'll see, but might be a write-off director.

It also put Barbarian into perspective in a way. There is a kind of monster favoured there, the thing that is most scary or repulsive, and it's ugly and female. Subconscious or conscious choice, I don't know.

Yeah, I did not vibe with this aspect of the film either, which starts out quite interesting due to its structure but got less so the more I learned. After the finale I was over it. Besides perpetuating prejudices and stereotypes, "a hag did it" is just plain boring.

Though a mid - let alone bad - experience there and tbh I might just stick with my 2 favs until I'm fully tattooed up.

Reached out to two new artists about getting a tattoo each. Part of my new years resolutions was branching out a bit as I get more coverage. You never know how working with somebody else might really enhance your original concept/idea.

Once they figure out the most british title for it it's go time, but they'll never get the alliteration in there too.

I watched that film too! At the time I joked that some writer seeing this will be the first domino falling leading to a UK breaking bad ripoff directed by guy ritchie.

I must do an actor or director deep-dive this year, because when I looked at my letterboxd annual summary I found out that my most watched actor and director were Masahiko Tsugawa and Abel Ferrara with 3 and 2 films each. Can't believe I didn't see anybody in 4 films just accidentally.

I was just thinking the other day I should make X-files my rewatch of the season so this post is a great reminder. I crave analogue and low-tech these days.

I hope the fuckup will look mildly artistic and not just like putting a finger in front of the lens. But then again I love cheap cameras and fucked up pictures.
