Costco should buy Southwest, bring back the free checked bags, and offer $1.50 hot dogs. They’d be unstoppable.

Good question. @joshtpm.bsky.social may have better info. But the Dems to push on the funding fight to rein in Musk include the following:

Bennett (CO)
Gallego (AZ)
Hassan (NH)
Hickenlooper (CO)
Kelly (AZ)
Osoff (GA)
Peters (MI)
Slotkin (MI)
Warner (VA)

Call Fetterman too but he is so useless.
Which democratic senators are at risk of voting in favor of the CR? We should be calling their offices.

Posting about pigs in the face of fascism feels right.

Two of the lady piglets got out this weekend. Much excitement! They taunted the neighbor’s barky dog and squealed righteously when chased home.

We gave the neighbor half a dozen fresh eggs as thanks for letting us know they’d gotten out. Oink!

Our Real Work by Wendell Berry

It may be that when we no longer know what to do
we have come to our real work,
and that when we no longer know which way to go
we have come to our real journey.
The mind that is not baffled is not employed.
The impeded stream is the one that sings.

An act of love as resistance.

I love my work in mine reclamation. I resist the false dichotomy between mining and stewardship. We can do both.

Check on your friends in federal jobs, even if their roles are secure. They are not doing well. EPA, USFS, FHWA, USACE, BLM, DOE… everyone is facing sudden losses without cause. Not even able to say goodbye. These folks love our country, they’ve given so much, and they’re hurting.

Federal employees are starting to call me asking for jobs.

The Rep stance is “this will shift work to the private sector, government is too bloated.”

Tell me which private company, exactly, is going to regulate, inspect, and mandate improvements to aging dams or to clean up toxic mine waste.

I work a lot with the EPA, as a consulting engineer. I don’t have any huge revelation on the political path forward, but I just want to say - every single person I know at the EPA is a goddamned badass gem of a human. And I’ve felt that way since 2019. Doing what I can to support them!

Son of a biscuit, I’m here! Wearing my comfy emerald green PJ’s, winding down for bed, contemplating just how frikkin’ loud ducks are. We have 8 in the back yard (temporarily, for a friend moving farms) and those bastards never shut up. There’s your wisdom for the night: don’t ever get ducks.
