What Christmas is really about:

"It’s about a funny football-headed kid with a good heart but no sense of reality whose entire world view is at stake!"

Will there be snow in your hometown this year for Christmas? ...probably not!

But! you can get a hot chocolate and browse thru 83 years worth of data to see how many snowy holidays you got to enjoy growing up. Relive those glorious snowy mornings, or find out if those were rarer than you remember!

For our new visual investigation into how night vision and city lights may have played a part in the DCA crash we flew a drone along the helicopters route, filmed incoming planes through night vision goggles, and analyzed it all within a 3D model of Washington, D.C.

In deadly D.C. plane crash, city lights may have played a role. See how.
The Post examined the bright skyline around Reagan National Airport and whether it may have been a factor in the January accident, which killed 67 people.

While in college, during a long weekend hang, myself and buds had the bright idea to improvise a recipe for 'beer pancakes' using Leinenkugel's Berry Weiss.

Every time Bari pops in the news I get flashbacks to those, the worst pancakes I've ever eaten.

My favorite animated show got canceled in 2020, but the creators still manage to get together to put out a song on Christmas sung by one of the many show's duos.

The sales pitch of Venture Bros was realistic Johnny Quest, but the staying power is how much love was poured into it.

Today is the Winter Solstice, the longest night of the year for most of us living between the Equator and the Arctic Circle. The duration varies by latitude. Those living in the Arctic are experiencing Polar Night, which may have begun weeks ago!

Refugees learned which half they were in from a number stamped on the back of their ration card.

While I've lately been promoting the Independent Map Artists group I organize (mapartists.org), I haven't actually indulged in shamelessly promoting my own #map store for a long while.

RIP Udo Kier. An actor that always delivers and once you notice him shows up in the darnedest places.

Swan Song starring him was among my favorite last year - a "dying legend has one last romp" flick that does it right. Powerhouse.

Personally have drawn a line in the sand for myself with AI that I'm never using it for emails, editing, or writing of any sort. Defeats the entire purpose of putting yourself out to the world to render yourself a puppet.
i just reviewed 50+ applications for an arts award and most of them were written by chatgpt. And then the other reviewers said they put them into Gemini to rank them. At a certain point, if everyone is giving their thinking entirely over to AI, why are we even bothering with any of this anymore?
