Common themes in my work? Oh sure. I love to put characters in depressing situations that are ultimately doomed and unfixable.

The thing is, I've always been skeptical of the literary merits of self inserts. But the OTHER thing is, if you don't write your MC w aspects of your own body not commonly repped in fiction? Who will?
(Or the people who do may well choose to write them unrealistically or derogatorily.)

I don't think it matters all that much if a house is open-concept or not. Like, I'm sure different layouts generally work more for certain individual families/situations. But I don't think it's destroying our lives and households or whatever, either way

I believe the whole point of making art is to be delighted by making it. Or perhaps more precisely to be gratified by making it--some art, for instance, comes from anger, and while anger is not delightful it is important to express, explain, convey, etc. That expression is gratifying.

This worked so well for me last month! It was amazingly rewarding, so I think I'm going to carry it forward into February. (I might not update this new accountability thread every day. But I do think it helped, so I want to keep that going, too)
My January goal: To write exactly one (1) page per day, 1st thing in the morning before I even look at my phone.
It's a pretty ambitious goal for me, but I hate my phone being the 1st thing I reach for in the morning. I wanna break the habit + replace it w something else creative. So... writing!

I read a lot of physical books. Many of which are queer. And when I don't want them anymore + am too lazy to trade in/donate them? They go in the Little Free Library.

RE those last 2 posts, it's a lesson we should've already learned! Some of Trump's 1st term harm was mitigated, bc ppl were able to turn Trump against his own. We can't 100% do that now bc the govt purged a lot of potential leakers. But! Still plenty of ways to divide & conquer this administration.

The thing that's so wild is if you joined ICE—and maybe one of the things that's making them especially violent—is there's no coming back from this. You're not getting a hero's welcome, you're not getting a medal. There are going to be people and places—a LOT of them—who will shun you forever.
