I'm watching CNBC. These anchors are so angry. They really didn't believe he'd do it. They're actually just now, 10 years into this shit, realizing he's a maniac hellbent on revenge and there's no grand plan for the markets. Better late than never but holy shit.

Yes, yes, this is a serious person testifying before Congress that Canada is less open to free speech than North Korea.

Tell me again that Bari Weiss's publication (for whom this person works) is a trustworthy publication on speech issues.
The Free Press lady - Rupa Subramanya - opens with the claim that Germany, France, and Canada have less free speech than North Korea. Bold thinking!

She's reading an opening statement I don't see posted anywhere. I think she complained ab some European countries penalizing people over swastikas?

I can't believe "Pickle-ball Paul" is showing up outside of Reddit. This guy is a fundamentalist Christian with a failing youtube channel. He has no job-he's in his late 30s trying to be a professional pickle ball player. He has a wife and two kids.

Ideology, it turns out, does not often jive with reality. America's "Great Leap Forward" is not going to end well.

Responding to social problems with exhortations to kindness is a way we make systemic inequalities look like individual ones, ones that can be changed if we are just nice enough, not ones that require fundamental shifts in how our institutions, organizations and society are arranged.
tom brady and snoop dogg starring in a "stand up to hate" commercial while both being supporters and friends of donald trump is kinda the natural conclusion of "just be kind <3" messaging that refuses to engage with politics

I think an American flag created entirely by black men at the Superbowl is one of the best pieces of art I've seen in my lifetime. I hope it actually killed some folks. And I hope it finally closes the fucking book on the argument that we shouldn't use the flag to fight the God damned fascists.

As someone who has reported on AI for 7 years and covered China tech as well, I think the biggest lesson to be drawn from DeepSeek is the huge cracks it illustrates with the current dominant paradigm of AI development. A long thread. 1/

More and more reports popping up of people sieg heiling in public. Here at Disneyland. Teenagers at school. This is why you never give an inch and call it out as you see it.

China understood this before our geriatric reps did.
"China has not reined in its tech sector out of any belief in democracy, but rather through a seeming understanding that the new forces of wealth, data, intelligence, information, commerce, and communications can hijack a country’s political system and lead it into dangerously uncharted territory."

This was always going to be Trumps biggest hurdle. Most reps know their constituents rely on these programs, and they will be blamed if they're cut.
This is pretty amusing - and telling. GOP hardliners are teeing up to slash government programs, and the handful of remaining GOP moderates are like "yeah we're not committing political suicide for you."
