When ICE was crawling around the neighborhood, my niece worried that they’re going to “send [her] back to where [she] came from.” She said “I don’t want to go back to New York (her birthplace) alone.” I want to laugh but this is how scary it is to the kiddos who aren’t even likely to be affected.
